The meeting will focus on distributing the stocked duffle bags to those in the initial Neighborhood Gathering Place Pilot Program. The duffle bags contain curated supplies that a Block Coordinator\, or equivalent (AKA neighborhood leader) could apply for. The purpose is to help a Block Coordinator to set up a Neighborhood Gathering Place in a a post disaster situation and then use the items to help neighbors safely check on neighbors and to provide mutual aid\, safely\, for the first hours. We will distribute the “Bags” to those who can attend and also provide an overview to what’s inside and how to use the contents. We will also collect input into our Pilot Program. \n\n\n\nIf you would have an interest in possibly applying for a “Duffle Bag” in the future\, please feel free to join us. This meeting will be an interactive and informal one.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s International ShakeOut Day is October 17 at 10:17 AM when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work\, school\, or home! This is a good opportunity for licensed Ham Operators to practice their Emergency Communication skills and and to test their readiness. Is your go-kit ready?  \n\n\n\nAt 10:17 a.m.\, duck\, cover\, and hold on\, (or at least think about what you would do)\, when you feel the shaking begin.  After the shaking stops\, take care of yourself\, take care of your family\, and take care of your neighbors. \n\n\n\nOnce you are able to\, and if it’s safe to do so\, grab your go-kit radio and check into the SCARES repeater resource net at 444.500 MHz\, + offset\, CTCSS=100 Hz; or 146.445 MHz simplex\, CTCSS=114.8 Hz. \n\n\n\nMark Reynolds (KN6SRN) will be the emergency net control. Follow his instructions. Remember to say “this is only a drill”\, and to give your callsign at the end of each transmission. If you arrive before Mark\, you can start and run the net until Mark arrives. Keep a log of who checks in\, their locations\, status\, and availability for deployment. When Mark checks in\, make him Net control and pass him your log information.
